I now have had time to listen to the CD and my first impressions are extremely good. The musical content, sound, tempos and expression from all the tracks presented are very good. The recording and mix is also to a very high standard and one can hear the professional approach right from the beginning of the CD.
The mix of tunes and running order is very fitting and shows the massive latent and creativity from the producer and Pipe Major. The first set of 3/4s were played in a very nice tempo, well expressed with a nice overall sound from the pipes and drum corp. The tunes that had keyboard and guitar compliment came over in a very musical and entertaining fashion. My favourite tune has to be “The Dawning of the Day” with a solo piper introduction, (played nice and slow and with feeling) and then building up to the full band with Keyboard and Guitar really helps to make this tune come across very strong. The pipes were well-tuned producing good harmonics between chanters and drones throughout the complete recording.
I have to say that this is one of the best (if not the best) live Pipe Band CD that has come out of Germany and full recognition should be awarded to everyone involved in the marvellous work that has been put into making this finished product.
I would recommend this CD to anyone who appreciates good music and I wish Claymore every success for the future.

Große Hochachtung, großer Respekt für Euer Werk! Erst mal das Äußere:
Lob an die Grafikerin: super Fotografie,
zurückhaltendes Design, schlicht aber edel. Genau meine Linie.
Musik: Auswahl sehr gelungen, besonders die Melange mit den Rockern vom
Ronnie.
Mit dem zeitlichen Abstand den ich jetzt habe kann ich sagen: Ihr habt
das Programm nicht endlos aufgeblasen sondern habt offensichtlich an
den Stücken gearbeitet und diese einfach verbessert. Vielleicht ist das
der Punkt, wo man den Unterschied zum PM Hildenbrand am Deutlichsten
sieht. Beim Drumcorps ist es mir natürlich am Meisten aufgefallen, wie
der gewonnen hat. Das war schon eher dürftig, was wir damals aus den
Stücken rausgeholt haben. Und jetzt: Tolle Ideen und es groovt sogar unheimlich.
Und wenn bei Highland Cathedral das Keyboard mit einsetzt, stellen sich
bei mir alle Haare auf, so schön ist das!

“It still amazes me that Scottish music is thriving in the most unusual places. Dubai, Berlin, South Africa, India, South America and the list goes on. People clearly have a connection to their Scottish heritage or simply love the sound of Scottish pipe bands!? Recently I received a CD in the post from an online drumming student in Germany. The CD “Claymore Pipes and Drums – Live in Munich” is a great example of great pipe band music, innovative arrangements and a fun recording. It was pleasurable listening, with some old classics, modern compositions and intriguing transitions. A very smart layout – kicking off with Green Hills of Tyrol and then finishing the CD with “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. Clearly a band that enjoys performing, trying new things and presenting traditional Scottish music. Well done Guys on a great job! Vor allem war ich sehr über Deine netten Zeilen erfreut und kann Euch
allen zu diesem Meisterwerk sowie zu dieser Glanzleistung nur
gratulieren. Aus eigener Erfahrung weiß ich wie viel Arbeit, Elan und
Engagement dahinter steckt. Chapeau!
Mir gefällt Euer Live-Album sehr und war sehr über einige Tunes in
ihrer Interpretation erstaunt. Schöne Arrangements!
